Jovencia is an upscale medical spa located in Ponte Vedra. Interior Buildouts was happy to help them turn an old health foods store into their new treatment center. This black and white space has a fresh look that includes new marble epoxy floors, Spanish style textured walls, black subway tile and a mirror water feature.
Converting a retail unit into a medical spa moves the space into a different regulatory and technical category. A health foods store needs shelving, a till point and a shopfront. A treatment centre needs private rooms, hand-washing provision, controlled ventilation, appropriate drainage and surfaces that can be cleaned to a clinical standard, all wrapped in an interior that feels like hospitality rather than healthcare.
That tension defines a medical spa buildout. Treatment rooms need acoustic and visual privacy and the servicing of a clinical space, while the client-facing areas need to feel calm and expensive. Marble epoxy floors are a good example of resolving both at once: a seamless poured floor with no grout lines is easy to keep hygienic and reads as a high-end finish rather than a practical one.
Spanish style textured walls, black subway tile and a mirror water feature carry the character of the space. Textured wall finishes are applied by hand and cannot be corrected the way a painted surface can, so substrate preparation determines the result. A water feature adds waterproofing, drainage, power and ongoing maintenance access to a wall that would otherwise be decorative, and all of that has to be designed in before the finish goes on.
